9/27/06 - October Meeting and Trail ride Prep.

10/25/06 - A long time coming
Been awhile since I updated, but the big trip is here.  7:45 sharp on Friday at Stewarts.  Make
sure you have your fire extinguisher, first aid kit and any tools you think you might need.  Yadda
yadda :)  For more info, check the forums; Zach has made a post containing most of the info you
will need.  I know a few of us losers have had to drop out >8(  But I hope those of you who do get
to go have a blast!

11/7/06 - November meeting!
The meeting will be on November 17th (Friday night) at 7:00.  It's going to be a bonfire, at a
mysterious undisclosed location.  It's so secret, we don't even know how to get there.  We will
meet at Stewarts Hardware Southport, and then we will all be blindfolded.  Relying on Ben's
homing pigeon like instincts, we will follow him to the location, no peeking.  If you want to eat
anything, bring it along; just make sure it's something you are confident you can cook over a
bonfire.  You may want a very long stick to cook with, as Jude and Zach are going to be building
the fire.

12/11/06 - Spreading Christmas Cheer
In a manly sort of way, of course.  The wreath was a huge success, with no small thanks to
Shane and his lovely wife Deborah.  It won 2nd place!  Ben's mother asked which one of us
was gay when she saw the wreath, so it must be good :)  The November meeting was a great
success also, and the turnout was the best so far.  It could only have been better if Lee drove a
Jeep instead of a Toyota, but I suppose we can let that slide.

We've decided that we won't have an official meeting during the month of December, as many
of us have our hands full just dealing with the holidays.  However, we are planning to have a
meeting in January, as well as maintenance day; I'm sure many of you have a list of small jobs
and regular maintenance that you wish to do to your jeep, and this will be the day to do it.  Many
hands make small work, and there will be a lot of combined experience present, along with
tools.

Tentative dates - Jan. meeting is 1/7/2007, maintenance day is 1/21/2007.  Check the forums
for more information, stock tips and handy cleaning advice.

12/31/06 - Happy New Year!
We hope you guys had a great Christmas, and hope you have a great new year holiday!  Drive
safe, lots of drunks out tonight.  We've had a lot of interest in the maintenance day, and I'm sure
that the club meeting on the 7th will mostly center around planning and discussing that event.
From what I've heard talking with various members, it's going to be busy on the 21st, and I
know I plan on starting bright and early!

If you want to make some plans about maintenance day, the official forum thread is
here.  I
know that Ed has piles of skid plates to install, I have a body and motor mount lift,  Ben and
Seth both have plans to work on body parts and squeaks, Zach has polyurethane bushings to
install in his front end and who knows what all Shane has planned!  A couple of prospective
members have also shown interest in the event, and may show up just to check out the scene.

If you guys have some suggestions about where to hold the January meeting on the 7th, hit up
the forums and let us know.  The bonfire was fun, but it's getting cooler and we may want to
hold this one indoors.

1/18/07 - Site Updates!
I've updated the site with a new picture gallery and a calendar; both are in their infancy stages,
so they aren't very polished yet, or fully filled out.  I'll be adding more pictures and calendar
dates.

The calender is pretty ugly at the moment, but I'm working on it.  I'll hopefully be adding in a bit
more color and maybe I'll be able to make it a little less lopsided looking.  If you have anything
that you want to add to the calendar, just post on the forums and I'll try to update it asap.  If you
notice anything that is wrong or not working, drop me a line through the forums or email or
whatever.

The second link on the Photo Album page is the one you want for the new gallery; I really am
pleased with this one.  I may be able to add in a bit of color to the background on the gallery,
but what I need right now is more content; I have limited pictures at the moment.  More to come!
1/29/07 - Surf and Turf
The menu for February is starting to shape up; we have a club dinner meeting scheduled for
February 9th at 7:00 pm, and this time the Southport members will be heading up to Leland.
We figured it wasn't fair for the Wilmington crew to have to keep trekking down here all the time.

We are also planning to go get some sand on the tires over in Carolina beach on February
18th.  Lee suggested that we check out some of the trailriding around Old River road; check the
forum for more information
here.

Both events are on the calendar, and you can always call a founder for additional information.

I appreciate the feedback about the site, and am still working on it.  The newest addition is a
news archive page; if you scroll down, you will notice a link in place of the lengthy list of news
posts.  If wish to access any of the old news posts, that link is where it's at.  I've also added an
additional gallery of photos from the October Uwharrie trip, as well as a short video; check the
Photo Album page for them.

In other news, maintenance day was a great success!  Both Landon and myself installed lifts
on our Jeeps, with help of course.  I would like to thank Zach and Naveen for helping with mine.

Justin is now pimping a hot set of 32's on some sexy black steel rims; hopefully his 2" budget
boost is on the way so he can get a little more room between the tires and the fender flares.

Justin gave Shane's YJ his old rims and tires; it's amazing how much attitude that little black
Jeep has now.  Shane and Jude spent most of their time trying to track down the reason that
Shane has no working heater fan, with no luck I'm afraid; better luck next time!

If you ever wanted to know what it looks like when a radiator vomits all over your engine at
highway speeds, just look under Ben's hood; there is a nice new radiator though!

I had a great time, and from what I saw, so did everyone else.  Most of us forgot our cameras,
but I think Shane might have snapped a picture or two; perhaps we will get them on the site
soon.

See you guys in February!

2/12/07 - Beware the seagulls!
If you are riding the ferry across to the aquarium - meet at the ferry in time for the 9:15 run.
This should put us meeting at the aquarium at 10:15 or so, for those of you coming from ILM.
Lunch is planned for 12:00 at the Arby's on College road at Monkey Junction, near the
intersection of Carolina Beach road.  The address is 5108 S. College.  When we finish with
lunch, around 1:00, we plan on hitting the trail!

For more info, check the members section of the forums
here.

Who wants to help Justin get high?  I hear he got his budget boost in the mail!

2/25/2007 - And thanks for all the fish!
Wow, lots to talk about.  First off, we all want to say a huge thanks to all the peeps who came
out to relocate some sand and play on the telephone poles at River road; everyone I've talked to
had an awesome time.  For me, half the fun was seeing so many Jeeps out there.  Six months
ago, there were only four of us.  We are now about to break 20, if we haven't already, and much
of this growth is due to you guys networking and finding more interested, good folks.

We also lifted our last stock TJ in the last week or so; congrats to both Justin and Sparky on the
new tires and the 2" lifts.  They look great.  Grats to Simon on his lift, and new tires, it's amazing
what couple of inches and some new rubber can do, eh?

Chris, in the green YJ, turned in his application to the club after riding along with us on Sunday,
and I'll soon be delivering an application to Ed's brother John, the proud new owner of a
$200.00 XJ.  It's not quite a $1 Jeep, but it's pretty damn close!

I'd also like to thank Matt, who recently joined the forums for all the tech advice about XJ's that
he has been providing.  It's good stuff, and will be put to good use, I'm sure.  I can't wait to fire
up the sawzall, muahahaha!

Info about the March meeting will be forthcoming, this week; until then, keep the rubber side
down :)

p.s.  Thanks for driving a Jeep this time, Lee!
